It is time to say goodbye to the old Valley View
gym bleachers. Originally the Bonners Ferry High
School bleachers when the school was built back
in the 70s, those bleachers will be taking their
millions of memories to the highest bidder, with
sealed bids being accepted at the district
office until 3 p.m. Thursday, March 30. These bleachers have seen some good days, been sat on and stomped on through some thrilling moments of Badger history, but time has caught up with them and it is finally time to retire them to make way for some new, safe and code compliant bleachers. Many people have and continue to contribute/donate to the purchase of new bleachers. The Valley View PTO has worked hard to raise a significant portion of their cost. The Bonners Ferry Rotary Club is working on a matching grant to raise the remaining funds. The Rotary Club will be holding a meeting on Tuesday, April 4, at Valley View to assist in the dismantling of the old bleachers. After receiving several estimates on the value of the old bleachers, it has been determined there is no useful value for them. They are not code compliant and cannot be sold to to be used as bleachers due to liability issues. The only value in them would be for salvage or reclaimed wood. The school district has contacted several reclaimed wood companies, but have received little interest in them. There have been a couple of local offers, but the district would like to make the offer to anyone who may have an interest, sentimental or otherwise. And here are the official particulars: NOTICE OF SALE IS HEREBY GIVEN, sealed bids will be received by the Board of Trustees of Boundary County School District #101, Bonners Ferry, Idaho for the following: Sale of Valley View Elementary School Gym Bleachers Bid forms are required and may be obtained with bid specifications from the School District #101 Administration Office, 7188 Oak Street, Bonners Ferry, Idaho 83805, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday until the day of bid opening. Questions regarding bid specifications are to be directed to Maintenance Supervisor Bob Overman. Mr. Overman can be reached at 208-290-1024. Sealed bids will be received at the Boundary County School District Administration Office at 7188 Oak Street in Bonners Ferry, Idaho 83805 until 3:00 p.m., Thursday, March 30, 2017. Bids will be opened and publicly read aloud at the time and place stated for receipt of sealed bids. Bids received after the time fixed for opening will not be considered. It is anticipated the contract will be awarded on or about March 30, 2017.
