20-Mile Water expects some service back on
Monday |
March 19, 2017 |
Twenty Mile Water Association members have been
without water since Saturday afternoon after a
mudslide hit a creek, blocking a main system
intake. There is also a line break somewhere in
the system that needs to be located and
repaired.
Crews worked late into Saturday evening and were
back at work early today, shoveling out the dam
and getting a sufficient flow to refill the
system, but work on finding the line break won't
begin until Monday morning.
Association officials expect to have service to
some members by Monday, but full system
restoration could take several days, depending
on the location of the line break. When water is
restored, members are asked to walk their
properties along the course of buried water
lines looking for water where it shouldn't be or
water bubbling from the ground, which could help
save time in locating the ruptured line.
Those who spot such hydrologic activity are
asked to contact association accountant Deborah
Hernandez-Youngwirth, Youngwirth, Davis &
Associates, at (208) 267-5166.
Once water is restored, association members are
advised to boil water before using it until the
system's water is tested by the Idaho Department
of Environmental Quality.
Hernandez-Youngwirth said she will continue to
provide updates as the system is brought back on
line, and NewsBF will assist in getting word
out, publishing notices as they come in. |
