Wednesday storm watch upgraded to warning |
February 7, 2017 |
The winter storm watch issued early this morning
has been upgraded to a winter storm warning, in
effect from 4 p.m. Wednesday through 4 p.m.
Thursday. The National Weather Service predicts steady accumulating snow will begin Wednesday evening and continue through much of Thursday morning, bringing four to eight inches of new snow to the valleys and as much as 20 inches to higher elevations before the snow level rises to 4,000 feet, turning first to sleet and freezing rain and to rain Thursday afternoon. In addition to making travel difficult, the snow is expected to be wet and heavy, adding stress to roofs and structures as well as to trees and power lines. Area residents are urged to make all possible preparations before Snowmaggedon II is upon us. |
