An 80 year-old Minnesota man lost his life in
North Idaho this morning after the driver of a
west bound semi lost control of his rig on I-90
near Wallace.
According to the Idaho State Police, Arthur T.
Houston, 53, Avondale, Arizona, lost control of
his 2015 Freightliner tractor trailer rig near
mile 61.5 at about 9:27 a.m. today, careening
into the guardrail on both shoulders before he
could bring the rig to a stop.
Philip B. Bendsten, 80, Sartell, Minnesota, was
driving a 2007 International tractor trailer
west behind Houston, and hit the trailer of
Houston's rig. He was pronounced dead at the
scene.
Houston was taken by ambulance to Shoshone
Medical Center for treatment. Both drivers were
wearing seatbelts.
The collision blocked westbound traffic, which
was rerouted, for approximately seven hours.
Shoshone County Sheriff and ITD personnel
assisted ISP at the scene. |
