An Idaho State Police trooper suffered minor injuries Sunday afternoon in a collision while she was leading the motorcade escorting the National Christmas Tree from McCall to Boise. The 80-foot Englemann spruce was cut last week on the Payette National Forest near McCall. Idaho State Police Trooper Brandalyn Crapo According to Idaho State Police, Trooper Brandalyn Crapo was in her patrol car leading the convoy down Highway 55 at about 12:19 p.m. November 6 when a 2001 Dodge pickup driven by Michael Shields, 49, Boise, crossed the center line and collided with Crapo. Crapo was flown to St. Alphonsus Hospital in Boise for treatment, Shields was treated at the scene. The truck carrying the National Christmas Tree was not involved in the collision. The Boise County Sheriff's office is leading the investigation. The National Christmas Tree will be carried to ceremonies throughout the state in coming weeks, including a stop in Coeur d'Alene on Sherman Avenue between 1st and 2nd Street from 10 a.m. to noon Friday, November 11. The tree will then go on a cross-country jaunt to Washington, D.C., where it will be placed on the West Lawn of the White House. Boise fifth-grader Isabella Gerard will help U.S. Senator Mike Crapo light it for the holiday season.
