Areal flood watch issued |

The National Weather Service has issued an areal
flood watch for portions of North Idaho and
Washington, including Boundary County, in effect
from midday on Saturday through late Saturday
night.
Another round of moderate to heavy rain is
expected to fall on Saturday, dropping from half
an inch to more than an inch of new rain on
ground that's already saturated.
In addition to flooding, the additional rainfall
will also increase the threat of erosion and
mudslides, particularly below recent burn scars.
Plugged culverts may also cause roadway
flooding, and drivers are urged to turn around
if confronted with water over a roadway rather
than attempt to drive through.
Those in low lying or flood prone areas are
encouraged to secure their property to prevent
flood damage. |
