A 40-year Bonners Ferry tradition continues when
the Bonners Ferry Community Choir starts
rehearsals for the new season at 6:30 p.m.
Tuesday, October 11, at Trinity Lutheran Church
in Bonners Ferry. Barb Nelson, accompanist, and
Vicki Blake Thompson, conductor join forces once
again to lead the choir's annual Christmas
concert.
This 60 to 65 voice choir is open to all singers
high school age through senior citizens. There
are no auditions and there is no cost to
singers. Students middle school age and younger
may also sing if accompanied by a singing
parent.
Concerts this year will be held at 7:30 p.m.
Friday, December 16, and at 3 p.m. Sunday,
December 18.
Rehearsals will be held every Tuesday night
until the concerts. Dress rehearsal will be held
Thursday, December 15.
The concert this year centers on the nativity
story in three parts: the Cry for Light and
Peace, the Coming of the Christ Child, and the
Contemplation/Celebration of what that means for
us today. The music is, as usual, highly varied
in musical styles. The program incorporates
familiar carols like Silent Night, Angels from
the Realms of Glory, the Holly and the Ivy, the
Virgin Mary Had a Baby Boy, O Come, O Come
Emmanuel, and new Christmas music as well. The
choir sings in four to eight parts.
Anyone wishing to sing in this years concert
should simply come to the first rehearsal. For
