Urgent announcement for all who plan to exhibit
poultry
at the Boundary County Fair |
July 20, 2016 |
The
Boundary County Extension Office has just been
informed that they have to inspect all poultry
that will be going to the Boundary County Fair
to check for Avian Influenza.
Anyone who plans to exhibit poultry at the
Boundary County Fair this year will need to
bring their birds (in cages) to the Boundary
County Extension Office parking lot on Tuesday,
July 26, between 12:30 and 6:00 p.m. for the
Idaho State Department of Agriculture livestock
inspection for Avian Influenza.
A sample will be taken from each bird, and leg
bands will be distributed to those who have been
sampled. Only poultry with these leg bands will
be allowed to be exhibited at the fair. Since it
takes 2-3 weeks to complete the testing, we will
know before the fair if there are any poultry
testing positive for Avian Influenza.
Avian Influenza is spread by waterfowl, who
typically have no symptoms. For this reason, no
waterfowl will be allowed to exhibit at the
fair.
If you have any questions, please call the
Boundary County Extension Office at (208)
267-3235. Please help us spread the word to all
those who would like to exhibit poultry at this
year's fair. |
