Just a couple of weeks ago, the BFHS Foreign
Language Society visited the University of Idaho
for an international heritage festival. This
spectacular event was called "Cruise the World"
of 2016, and shined a spotlight on many world
cultures. Many members of the Foreign Language
Society joined this trip to experience new and
different world cultures.
The Foreign Language Society makes this trip to
the University of Idaho one time every four
years for the "Cruise the World" festival. At
the "Cruise the World" festival, members of the
FLS club had opportunities to try authentic
oriental foods, participate in lively
entertainment, and learn about other
nationalities and customs.
Students of the Foreign Language Society got to
meet exchange students from more than 30
countries at the festival, and they had the
chance to stop by different booths to experience
more of those cultures. Señora Linda Hall, BFHS
Spanish teacher and FLS club advisor, greatly
encouraged the students to sample all the ethnic
dishes, telling them they at least had to try
three new foods. This was no problem for the
students though because they all enjoyed the
authentic foods!
The rest of the festival no doubt ensured FLS
members much fun and fond memories. They saw
performances from international students, and
were often encouraged with audience interaction.
Furthermore, there were music, games, and
dancing, as well as various foreign traditional
artworks. The Foreign Language Society also
received maps of the world to mark off every
country they've traveled to or will go to.
Everyone was very enthusiastic about the trip
and each enjoyed the festival. They all thought
it was a wonderful opportunity to learn about
other customs and cultures, and they knew that
this opportunity didn't come around every day.
The trip in the eyes of the students was quite
educational, but also super entertaining!
