Local Girl Scouts win Bronze Award |
October 19, 2015 |
Liliana Brinkman, Sierra Petesch, and Emma Lucas
were presented with the Girl Scout's Bronze
Award for their work in recycling in Boundary
County. After completing a Junior Journey about recycling, the girls and their troop toured the Boundary County Landfill where they learned about efforts to recycle in our community. Seeing there was a need for more recycling during the Boundary County Fair, they set up a recycling center in the main dining hall at the fairgrounds and collected plastics and aluminum cans that were donated to the Valley View Ski Club to help reduce costs. The Bronze Award is the first of three honors that a Girl Scout can receive and are followed by the Silver and Gold Award. |
