Annual Community Choir Holiday Concerts coming up
December 11, 2014
Once again, the long standing Bonners Ferry tradition lives on. Over 80 local singers, children and adults, join together to present "All on a Starry Night," this year's annual Bonners Ferry Community Choir Christmas Concert. Performances are Friday December 19 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday December 21 at 3 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, just off Highway 95 on Cody Street in Bonners Ferry. Requested donation is $10 for adults, $6 for students, or $29 for an immediate family.

This is at least the 38th annual concert for the Bonners Ferry Community Choir.  Conductor, Vicki Blake Thompson will conduct her 19th annual concert this year. She was preceded by Barb Nelson, who conducted for 18 years, and now is the choir's accompanist. Barb Nelson was preceded by conductor Earl Erickson.

Swingin' on a Star: the Bonners Ferry children's choir, will also perform in the concert, conducted this year by Chloe Cavender. Swingin' on a Star was founded in 1997 by Vicki Blake Thompson, who conducted the group up until this fall.

"All on a Starry Night," the theme of this year's concerts, features a variety of carols, familiar and new. It is a retelling of the Christmas story from a simple mountain folk perspective. Carols include: Deck the Halls, Do You Hear What I Hear, Bring a Torch Jeanette Isabella, Behold that Star, Sing We Now of Christmas, and several others. The audience is invited to join in on "The First Noel" and "Silent Night." The choir loves the opportunity to bring in the Season with friends and neighbors. A reception follows the performance with cookies and Christmas cheer for all.
