by Julie Colson Get ready . . . Idaho Family Reading Week is November 17-20! Valley View Elementary School has a full week of activities planned to get your family reading with our theme of: "Building a Community of Readers!" We are “building” a school house with paper bricks the children create, showing all the books they have read. Come and check it out! So far this year, we have read over 3,000 books! -Every morning from 7:30 to 7:45 in our foyer, a community member will read to our “early bird” children. -Monday, November 18: Principal Pflueger and Mystery Readers will be reading stories in each classroom. -Tuesday, November 19: Karen Standall, noted storyteller, will host two assemblies: one from 2:15 to 2:45 for Kindergarten through Second grade, the next from 3:00 to 3:30 for Third through Fifth grades. -Wednesday, November 19: The High School Drama Class, hosted by Mr. Carpenter, will present dramatic readings in each class during the morning hours. -Thursday, November 20: The entire school is hosting Pajama Day! Dress in your PJ’s and come to school. Invite your parents to come read with you (talk to your teacher for the best time). The PTO will be making and delivering popcorn to the children during the afternoon. Thank you PTO! Idaho Family Reading Week is sponsored by the Idaho Commission for Libraries, Eagles Aerie #3522, and the Lion’s Club, and is coordinated at Valley View by the Librarians. If you’d like to help, please call 208-267-5519 and ask for the library! |
