Snow Pit Chat slated at Alpine Shop |

The Friends of the Idaho Panhandle Avalanche
Center will host a Snow Pit Chat at 6 p.m.
Tuesday, January 9, at the Alpine Shop, 213
Church Street, Sandpoint.
Snow Pit Chats is a new and fresh approach to
avalanche education, and representatives from
IPAC and the Idaho Panhandle National Forest
will be on hand to talk back country safety.
There will be pizza, beer, a raffle and great
avalanche information.
Sandpoint local Liam Fitzgerald will be their
special guest speaker. He has a long history in
the avalanche world. He started his carrier in
the late 60s working on Squaw Valley Ski Patrol
and moved on to worked as the Snow Safety
Director at Snowbird, Utah, as well as UDOT
Highway Avalanche Program Director/Forecaster.
In 2014, after 25 years in Little Cottonwood
Canyon, Liam retired to Sandpoint. IPAC has been
very fortunate to have his expertise in the
area.
