By Emma Pluid Chapter Reporter October 28 through November 3, the Bonners Ferry FFA Chapter had eight students and two chaperones travel to Louisville, Kentucky, to attend the FFA National Convention and Expo. They flew into Nashville, Tennessee, on Tuesday, October 28, stayed the night and traveled to Bowling Green, Kentucky, on Wednesday and took a tour of the Lost River Caves before continuing their travel to Louisville, Kentucky. They took a tour of Winstar Farms in Versailles, Kentucky, which consisted of 2,300 acres and 500 Thoroughbred horses and also got a tour of Keeneland race track, where the Breeders Cup is held. On Thursday morning the group went to the opening session and explored through the Expo and had many opportunities to look into different colleges, different career choices, and many other things. There were about 2,400 different stands there for students to get aquatinted with. They had about three sessions Thursday, Friday, and two on Saturday. Friday after the sessions we went to Churchill Downs, which is the race track where the Kentucky Derby is held, and we even witnessed some live horse racing. Saturday after we attended the sessions we traveled back to Nashville, where we had dinner at the Aquarium and went to the Grand Ole Opry. The National Convention was a great experience and we thank the community members wh helped make it possible for us to attend, especially the Bonners Ferry FFA Alumni for their outstanding assistance and support to get us to National Convention. |
