It was a quiet election cycle this year in
Boundary County, and it's little surprise to
most that the incumbent in the sole challenged
race, that for Mayor of Moyie Springs, won by a
landslide.
Mayor Doug Evans garnered 50 votes to retain his
position in Moyie Springs. His challenger,
Rosanne Smith, received just eight.
The only real local election news came in the
race for Bonners Ferry City Council, where three
vied for two seats.
Former Boundary County Commissioner Ron Smith
was the leader with 161 votes to fill the sole
empty seat, incumbent Tom Mayo tallied 141 to
retain his seat for a second term. Matthew Solt
came in with a respectable, but third place
finish with 109 votes.
In the Moyie Springs City Council race, with
neither position opposed, Stephen Economu took
53 votes, Chad Farrens 44. |
