October 31, 2013 |
The National Weather Service has issued a winter
storm watch above 4,000 for North Idaho and
eastern Washington, calling for six to 14 inches
of high elevation snow. A strong Pacific storm system is expected to arrive in time for the weekend, and is expected to hit North Idaho on Sunday. The storm is expected to begin dumping snow in the Cascades tonight and continue though Saturday evening, and reach the Selkirks on Saturday, with snow levels dropping through the day on Saturday to 2,500 feet. By Sunday, light snow could reach the valley floors. In addition, the storm is expected to bring sustained winds to 10 to 20 miles per hour with gusts up to 40 miles per hour, causing sharply reduced visibility. |
