On Tuesday, August 27, county commissioners
voted for raising the rates for new tenants at the Community
Restorium rather than seek an increase in
property taxes.
Commissioner Lee Pinkerton said that though he
believes in the Restorium and understands the
financial needs of it, they, as Commissioners,
have the duty to think of all of Boundary
County's residents when they make their
decisions. Commission chair Dan Dinning agreed.
They both also explained that Restorium rates
are raised every year, usually by about three
percent to keep up with inflation. This year,
the raise in costs was subject to public hearing
as the increase sought was five percent. |
