Red flag warning tonight, Friday
|
August 22, 2013 |
The National Weather Service has issued a red
flag warning for the region, effective this
evening through 2 p.m. Friday, when a series of
fast moving thunderstorms are expected to roll
in from the south.
The clusters of storms are expected to develop
over Oregon this afternoon and spread into
Washington and North Idaho overnight. While some
cells may produce significant rain, most will be
moving too fast to allay the threat of
fires from lightning strikes.
Combined with the recent dry weather and warm
temperatures, the potential for abundant
lightning significantly increases the potential
for new fire starts. |
