Dear Parents/Guardians of Incoming Sixth
Graders:
The staff at Boundary County Middle School would
like to welcome you and your child to your new
school. Sixth grade is a very exciting and
important year in your child’s education, and as
such we will be hosting a few events to help
with the transition from elementary school to
middle school.
We sincerely hope to see you at these events.
Transition Day is scheduled for the morning of
Thursday, August 29. Bus services to and from
the event will be provided from Mt. Hall School
and Naples School for students living outside
the city limits.
We will begin the day with a general meeting in
the gymnasium at 8 a.m. with all sixth graders
and their teachers. Parents/guardians are
invited to attend the opening meeting.
The students will then be divided into their
advisory classes and will go to their
classrooms. The rest of the day will be spent
getting to know each other, meeting each of the
sixth grade teachers, touring the school, and
participating in team building activities.
We will conclude with a lunch provided by the
school at 11:30 a.m., and students will be
released about noon.
On the evening of August 29, BCMS will also be
hosting our Back to School Night.
We utilize this night for parents/guardians to
have the opportunity to meet the teachers and go
through their child’s class schedule to learn
about the expectations and goals each teacher
has for their students and classroom. This event
will start at 5 p.m.
Research has found that the transition from
elementary school to middle school is a key
event in students’ academic lives, and we want
to ensure that we make this transition as smooth
as possible. It is our goal to have sixth grade
students arrive on the first day of school,
Tuesday, September 3, feeling comfortable with
their school and their teachers and ready to
learn.
Finally, as you prepare your child for the
upcoming school year and begin buying their
“back to school” clothing, please keep in mind
the expectations and dress code at BCMS which is
that all students will wear clothing that does
not expose too much skin or has words or slogans
that are not appropriate for the school
environment.
Spaghetti straps, short shirts, and/or skirts
that do not cover the legs should not be worn to
school without a cover-up or leggings.
If you have any questions or concerns please
contact me at (208) 267-5852. We look forward to
seeing you and your child on August 29 for
Transition Day and Back to School Night and
September 3 for the first day of school. |
