Travelers tie up traffic |
July 25, 2013 |
While details remain sketchy, a Montana couple
and their three dogs enjoyed a less than
pleasant trip through Boundary County Wednesday,
Not only did their day not go well, but the
mishap that befell them tied up motorists on
Highway 95 for several hours. The Boundary County Sheriff's Office, Bonners Ferry City Police, Boundary Volunteer Ambulance, Paradise Valley and South Boundary Fire all responded at to milepost 502 on the north side of Peterson Hill at 11:32 a.m. July 24 amid a series of conflicting reports. Adding to the confusion was a report of a wreck on the highway north of Bonners Ferry, which turned out to be a log truck that broke down on the highway. The reason for the dearth of information is that an off-duty Idaho State Police trooper was called into service to attend the Peterson Hill crash; she spent hours on-scene and forewent issuing a press release as injuries were not severe. According to Boundary County undersheriff Rich Stephens, the small SUV towing a trailer was headed north when the driver lost control for unknown reasons and rolled, coming to rest on it's side. The trailer flipped upside down, coming to rest on its top (in the photo above, taken by Ingrid Pavia, the trailer had been righted for Cabinet Motors Towing; it was taken from the scene by a passing Husk's Towing rig that happened to be returning to Bonners Ferry from Sandpoint). The female passenger was taken to Boundary Community Hospital shortly after the mishap, her husband, the driver, stayed to help investigators and was later taken to the hospital to be checked out and to be with his wife. The three dogs, I'm told were a bit excited, but uninjured. |
