A number of members of the Naples community plan
to attend Tuesday evening's school board meeting
to address two issues of concern, and they're
hoping that all potentially affected will be there as
well.
The school board meets at 6 p.m. Tuesday, May
14, in the Middle School library, and the
questions they'll hear from Naples patrons
regard plans to combine classes at the
elementary, putting second and third graders and
third and fourth graders together, and plans to
eliminate special education classes next year.
Earlier, parents of Naples Elementary special ed
students were told that they need to transfer
their children to Valley View Elementary next
year, a move many Naples parents are unwilling
to take.
"Decisions like these will impact the entire
county at a time when we are desperately trying
to increase our county-wide student enrollment,"
said one Naples parent who fears continued
school consolidation.
