Juvenile admits to bomb hoaxes
|
April 30, 2012 |
A Naples 12-year-old who confessed to sheriff's
deputies in March to placing two calls to 911 to
report a bomb in an unspecified school has also
admitted his guilt in court.
Jacob W. Fletcher, who is not a public school
student, made his initial court appearance April
23, where he admitted as true two counts of
making a false report of an explosive.
Were he an adult, the charges would be felonies,
punishable by up to five years in prison on each
count.
The two calls were placed on consecutive days
March 18 and 19; because no specific school was
named, all five Boundary County schools were
evacuated and students sent home early. The
March 19 threat was not deemed credible as
authorities were already closing in on the
suspect.
Investigators said the youth has no connection
to eight other bomb hoaxes perpetrated in both
the high school and middle school earlier this
year; one other youth, also 12, has been charged
in one of the cases at the middle school.
An adjudication hearing on the two charges to
which Fletcher admitted to has been set for 2:30
p.m. Thursday, May 9, before Judge Quentin
Harden. |
