Bonners Ferry Native to retire from Army |

Best enlisted in the U.S. Army on June 8, 1992, after graduating from Bonners Ferry High School. She underwent basic training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, followed by advanced individual training as a financial specialist at Fort Benjamin Harris, Indiana. During the course of her career, she served at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, Camp Casey, Korea, Fort Bliss, Texas, Yongson, Korea, Wiesbaden, Germany, Fort Jackson, South Carolina, and at the Pentagon in Washington, DC. She was deployed to serve at Camp Monteith, Kosovo, and at Ali Al Salem, Kuwait and Qatar.
While serving in Germany, she won the German Schutzenschnur, Gold, which is the German Armed Forces badge of marksmanship. Following her retirement, Best is on track to graduate from the University of Maryland with her bachelor's degree, with a major in business administration and a minor in marketing. |
