Meeting set on SPCC regulations |
January 10, 2013 |
The USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service
will hold a meeting for agricultural producers
to learn about the U.S. EPA Spill Prevention,
Control and Countermeasure Regulation (SPCC)
regulation and what to do to be in compliance.
The regulation focuses on preventing environmental damage from on-farm oil/fuel spills that may contaminate local water sources. All farms with oil/fuel storage facilities of more than 1,320 gallons of aggregate above-ground storage must have a certified management plan in place by May 10, 2013 to be in compliance. Kevin Poole, a Professional Engineer qualified to work on SPCC plans and implementation, and Ree Brannon, NRCS-District Conservationist, will be available to answer questions from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday, January 31, at the Boundary Cooperative Extension Office. Please RSVP by January 24 if you are interested in attending so that we can have enough materials available. To find out more, call (208) 267-3340, extensions 102 or 107. |
