Swingin' on a Star auditions set |
September 11, 2012 |
Auditions for "Swingin' on a Star: the Bonners
Ferry Children's Choir" will begin at 4 p.m.
Wednesday, September 19 and again on Wednesday,
September 26. Auditions and choir practice will
be held at the Pearl Theater, 7160 Ash Street,
Bonners Ferry. Homeschoolers should come at 4 p.m. and public school students should come as quickly as possible after school. The choir is open to ages 8-18 and will rehearse from 4:30 to 5:45 p.m. every Wednesday that public school is in session, starting on September 19. Last year the balance between boys and girls was very even and there were spots for older boys whose voices had changed. It is expected to be the same this year. No preparation is necessary for auditions. Parents should accompany the children if possible. Those who make the choir will be invited to stay for practice. Former members of the choir do not need to audition. This year the children's choir will have three sessions. The fall session, September 19 through December 23, will focus on preparations for the annual Bonners Ferry Community Choirs Christmas Concert on December 21 and 23 and the second-annual "Christmas at the Pearl," with dates to be announced. The winter session will focus on developing reading and choral music skills and spring session will be a musical theater work. The spring session musical is open to those who have participated in both the fall and winter sessions. Old members do not need to audition, just send in registration and fee to Vicki Blake Thompson, 7596 Wild Horse Lane, Bonners Ferry, ID 83805. Fee is $50 for the fall session (12 sessions plus performances.) Discounts include a $90 fee for two singers in one family and a $130 fee for a family with three or more members. Some partial scholarships based on need are available: for a scholarship application call (208) 304-0866. |
