RAC meeting rescheduled |
August 13, 2012 |
Due to scheduling conflicts, the Idaho Panhandle
Resource Advisory Committee (RAC) meeting
originally scheduled for August 24 has been
rescheduled for September 7. An additional meeting is also scheduled for September 21, if needed, to provide committee members ample time to review requests for funding prior to the nationally mandated September 30, 2012, deadline for selecting new projects. At each of the scheduled meetings committee members will be reviewing and selecting proposals to distribute approximately $600,000 in project funding in north Idaho. RAC-funded projects must be located on National Forest System lands in Boundary, Bonner, Kootenai, Shoshone or Benewah counties, or on nearby lands if the project will benefit resources on the National Forests. Projects may be completed by Forest Service personnel, through partnership agreements or by open-bid contracting with individuals and corporations. The RAC works closely with the Forest Service to recommend projects that will benefit forest health, fish, wildlife, soils, watersheds and other resources; maintains roads, trails and other infrastructure; or control noxious weeds. For more information about the Idaho Panhandle RAC including how to submit a proposal, please visit the Idaho Panhandle RAC web page or contact Idaho Panhandle RAC Coordinator Jason Kirchner, at (208) 765-7211. Kirchner can also be reached via email at jdkirchner@fs.fed.us. The RAC meeting will be held at the Idaho Panhandle National Forests Supervisor’s Office, 3815 Schreiber Way, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho at 9 a.m. September 7. Project sponsors may attend the entire RAC meeting, andeetings are always open to the public. |
