Nice April this June!

June 26, 2012
By Ashley Glaza

As a local hay farmer recently said, “It’s been a really nice April this June!”

But the airport hasn’t been washed off the hill yet, and pilots and students are still finding holes in the clouds to launch their planes through.

Matt Allinger, Sandpoint, passed his private pilot test on Saturday June 16 to become the newest pilot out of Northern Air. Matt has been working on his license since last August. He made time after work every week through the fall, the darkness of winter, and the rain of spring to reach his goal.

When he’s not flying around the pattern at Boundary County Airport, Matt works as an airframe and power-plant mechanic at Quest Aircraft Company.

Marcus Byler
Marcus Byler, Bonners Ferry, successfully completed his Instrument Rating on June 14, allowing him to fly when the clouds and visibility are too low for the rest of us.

A good rating to have this year!

This Saturday, June 30, is the second Huckleberry Pancake Breakfast Feed at Northern Air.

Last month’s breakfast brought 243 people out!

Breakfast is served from 8:00 to 10:30 a.m. Funds from the breakfast go towards a flight school scholarship for a local high school student.

Following the breakfast on June 30 there will be a memorial Potluck lunch for Larry Morrison, who was a local aviator and member of the EAA club. Family and friends are welcome to come out to the Northern Air hangar at the airport to share stories and memories of Larry.

If the rain ever lets up, July 7 is the date for the Young Eagles flight day. Bring your kids out the airport for a free flight donated by local pilots.

For more information on any of these events or airport services call Northern Air at 208 267 4359, or visit northernair.biz. The local EAA chapter information can be found at www.757.eaachapter.org.
