IOCC cross-country cyclists to visit
|
June 22, 2012 |
"Race
to Respond," a group of bicyclists making a
cross-country trek representing the
International Orthodox Christian Charities, will
be making a stop in Bonners Ferry at the
Holy Myrrhbearing Women Orthodox Mission,
1957 Pleasant Valley Loop, for morning services
on Friday, June 29.
Celebrating their 20th anniversary, cyclist Jim
Angelus and friends are setting out once again
from Seattle on a 3,000 mile ride to Seaside
Park, New Jersey, where church pastor Father
Gregory Horton vacationed every summer as a
child, to raise awareness and funds for the IOCC's
worldwide humanitarian work.
The church invites everyone to stop in and
welcome the riders as they pause in our
community for the Feast of Saints Peter and
Paul.
That feast begins at the church at 6:30 p.m.
Thursday, June 28, for Great Vespers with
Blessing of the Loaves, and continues with
Matins at 8 a.m. Friday, June 29. The Divine
Liturgy takes place at 9 a.m., and the IOCC
riders will be introduced at a brunch at 10 a.m.
Those who don't wish to celebrate the feast,
especially those who aren't members of the
church, are welcome and encouraged to come to
brunch to cheer on the riders and their good
works.
To find out more, call Father Horton at (208)
267-0897. |
