Ron Paul sweeps local GOP caucus |
March 12, 2012 |
With
more turnout than many more populous counties,
Boundary County Republicans flocked to the
Bonners Ferry High School Tuesday, March 6, to
take part in the first ever Republican caucus,
and Ron Paul proved the overwhelming candidate
of choice.
Despite the local results, Mitt Romney took
state polling, garnering 24.72 percent of the
ballot, and as many state delegates, followed by
Rick Santorum with 4.1 and Paul with 3.16.
Boundary County was one of six Idaho counties to
go for the Texas Senator and doctor, giving 53.9
percent of its 358 votes to Ron Paul. Santorum
took 64 votes, Romney came in third locally with
64 votes.
Apparently "ya'll" don't like "cheesy grits."
No local votes went to former Speaker of the
House Newt Gingrich or to Buddy Roemer.
Other Idaho counties going for Dr. Paul were
Bonner, Camas, Idaho, Latah and Nez Perce. |
