Jennifer Watt, 39, Bonners Ferry, appeared for
an arraignment hearing this week and pled guilty
to three counts of grand theft for taking money
from the Selkirk Loop Association while she was
an employee.
Her plea could land her in prison for more than
40 years, but the agreement she entered into
would see her pay the association $130,000 and
spare her time in prison, though she might face
time in the local jail.
In addition, she agreed to undergo two month's
intensive counseling to help her overcome a
gambling addiction she admitted led her to the
thefts, a program to be done before she is
sentence in January, 2012.
"I know what I did was wrong," she said. "I take
responsibility." |
