County Preparedness Month

Boundary County Commissioners on Monday signed a
proclamation declaring September Preparedness
Month in Boundary County to encourage people and
families throughout the community to learn, plan
and prepare for local emergencies.
“Whereas, the purpose of National Preparedness
Month is to encourage Americans to prepare for
emergencies, and is designed to educate and
empower Americans to prepare for and respond to
emergencies, including natural disasters and
potential terrorist attacks, and;
“Whereas, the Citizen Corps of North Idaho
supports and promotes citizen education and
local preparedness efforts, and coordinates
volunteer activities that help make our
communities safer and better prepared for
emergencies, and;
“Whereas, the goal of Boundary County
Commissioners is to prepare its citizens for all
types of emergencies in their homes, businesses,
schools and the county; and,
“Whereas, the Boundary County Board of
Commissioners encourage the people of Boundary
County to take simple steps to prepare for
emergencies; and
“Whereas, the Boundary County Office of
Emergency Management provides emergency
preparedness presentations to citizens,
business, first responders and youth groups,
informing them on how to protect themselves,
their families and their neighbors during
emergencies; and,
“Whereas, emergency preparedness information can
be obtained by visiting the County’s website at
www.boundarycounty.org.
“Now, therefore, the Board of Commissioners of
Boundary County, by virtue of the authority
vested in us by the Constitution of the State of
Idaho do hereby proclaim September 2011 as
‘Boundary County Preparedness Month,’ and
encourage the people of Boundary County to
observe the month with appropriate preparedness
activities.”
