Bonners Ferry, Idaho Forest Group resolve dispute |

The City of Bonners Ferry and Idaho Forest Group
LLC have reached an agreement resolving a
dispute regarding rates for electric service to
the IFG mill in Moyie Springs. A new, long term power supply contract between the city and IFG will allow the Moyie Mill to operate in the competitive lumber market and cover the city's cost of providing electrical service, said city administrator Steve Boorman. "This contract balances the risks and benefits associated with good and bad generation years at the Moyie hydro-electric facility, as well as the variability of BPA rates," said Mayor Dave Anderson. Idaho Forest Group, one of the largest employers in Boundary County, operates four lumber mills in north and central Idaho. IFG is the product of a 2008 merger between Riley Creek Lumber Company and Bennett Forest Products. As a result of the agreement, the city and IFG have also agreed to dismiss pending litigation regarding the dispute. |
