Jesse Tobin,
Will Newhouse and school superintendent
Dr. Don Bartling. |
Jesse Tobin and Will Newhouse were chosen by the
Bonners Ferry High School faculty and
administration as the Bonners Ferry Rotary
Students of the Month for March, 2011.
Jesse Tobin, the daughter of Kevin and Julia
Tobin, has been involved in drama producations
in various capacities throughout her four years
of high school. This fact is noted in her
experiences in the community and the extra
curricular activities she has pursued during
high school.
She indicated that last year's production of the
musical, Aida, has been her proudest
achievement. Jesse thought the production
exceeded everyone's expectations of what a high
school drama production could be, and she was
proud for herself and every cast and crew member
involved in making the show happen.
Jesse plans to continue her education by
"heading to San Francisco to a performing arts
school" and "to become a performer and pursue
what I love."
When asked why she should have been selected for
Bonners Ferry Student of the Month, her reply
was that, "I always try to be the very best I
can be, in every situation. I always try to use
the mistakes I make as tools to help me become
better, and to sympathize and not judge those
around me. I just try to leave everywhere I go
just a little bit better than it was before I
came along."
Will Newhouse, the son of Dr. Chuck and Susan
Newhouse, plans to continue his education
'probably' at the University of Idaho to pursue
his career goal of becoming an animator/3-D
modeler. During high school, Will has been a
member of the Pep and Jazz bands and as a
senior, he joined the high school golf team.
Community activities have included scouting
since the age of 12 and cub scouts before that.
He was also a member of 4-H (Roadrunners).
Much to his surprise, his proudest achievements
were being voted homecoming prince his junior
year and also voted "best personality."
He won at the high school talent show with his
garage rock band in 2010, and expects to enter
again this year.
He spent many summers performing labor on his
uncle's farm. He remembers one summer where
there was a bad outbreak of timothy in the
alfalfa crop, "and I had to go and weed it out."
When asked why he should have been selected for
Bonners Ferry Rotary Student of the Month,
Will's reply was that "I get good grades, do
what my teachers ask of me, and I can hit a golf
ball really far."
Congratulations to Jesse and Will for the honor
of becoming the Bonners Ferry Rotary Students of
the Month for March.
