Panhandle Health hosting a Shriner's clinic
|
April 1, 2011 |
The Panhandle Health District is teaming up with
Shrine Clubs throughout the region to offer a
free clinic for kids who might need treatment
for orthopedic problems. This one is taking
place in Coeur d'Alene and is sponsored by the
Coeur d'Alene Shrine Club of Clalam, but in all
honesty, it's just as much sponsored by those
pillars of our community who don the purple fez.
You see them at nearly every county event, be it
the county fair, where they staff the popcorn
and candy booth, to the dwindling number of
parades, where they usually walk behind the
horses and scoop poop.
Don Carter, Walt Kirby, Lon Woodbury, Dick
Hollenbeck, Paul Shelton and many more.
On Saturday, April 9, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.,
their work will continue to make a difference as
kids and their parents from throughout the
region go to the Panhandle Health office in
Hayden at 8500 North Atlas Road, for free
resource referrals. Shriners from throughout the
area will be on hand to help kids with the most
need apply for free treatment at the Shriner's
Hospital in Spokane.
Orthopedic issues are related to bones;
scoliosis, dislocated hips, club foot, cerebral
palsy and more.
The Spokane Shrine Hospital can and does deliver
miracles every day.
All children 18 and younger are eligible, and no
appointment is necessary for the April 9
screening. Children are screened on a first
come, first served basis, and those children
most in need of the magic the doctors, nurses
and staff at a Shrine Hospital can bring about
will benefit from the best modern health care
has to offer.
To find out more, call a Shriner at (208)
661-4985 or (208) 765-5047. |
