We pay less tax for schools now than 10 years ago |
February 19, 2015 |
February 18, 2015 To the Editor There are many reasons to support the school Maintenance and Operations levy that is coming up for a vote on March 10. The most important is that the levy is an absolute necessity for our schools. With the loss of Forest funds and less money from the state to run our schools, the levy is more important than ever. Another often overlooked fact and reason that our community should support the levy is that it is more affordable than ever to do so. In 2005, the Idaho legislature removed funding for schools from your property. Property owners now only pay for building construction and any supplemental levy that they as voters approve. The result is that with the passage of this school levy, property owners will pay less tax for schools in 2015 than they did in 2005. Please be an informed voter and support your schools on Tuesday March 10. Greg Johnson |
