Where's our money?

I moved from Bonner's Ferry years ago and I
never got my deposit returned to me from the
City of Bonner's Ferry Utilities.
Fast forward about 10 years and I discover my
name on a government website regarding funds
being held for people that didn't know they had
money owed to them. My refund was $50.
I jumped through all the correct hoops and it
took literally months to get my $50 back.
I asked where it was being held all these years,
what type of account and how much interest had
it accrued. I was also curious about the
interest on all the other people's money who
were also due refunds all these years because I
knew I was not the only one.
I want to know how much interest my money
accrued all those years it was in the hands of
the City of Bonners Ferry.
Where is the interest on my money now? Hey,
wouldn't that make the interest accrued on my
money, my money, too?
The City of Bonner's Ferry says "No, of course
it isn't your money!"
They didn't have an answer when I asked whose
money it was. And where it was.
Interesting to note: When I moved from Bonners
Ferry, I called and had my utilities shut off
(of course), and I put in a change of address at
the Post Office before I ever left town.
My refund was never mailed to me.
How do I find out the answers to the above
questions? Where is the interest? And how many
people are still due back refunds? Where is
their money? |
