It was very clear to me when I drove through
Bonners Ferry last year and saw multiple
signs, buildings, and other things tagged
"Class of 2011," that the school system
should get involved.
We are not talking about one or two signs in
town ... I counted over 15 from Montana to
Sandpoint! At that point, I felt that the
school should have been very proactive!
They should have told the graduating class
that graduation would be postponed until
EVERY thing a few uncaring thugs had done to
the town was cleaned up.
Where was the school on this one?
If you don't think it is fair to make
everyone in the graduation class clean this
mess up, think about it this way: Clearly
the soon to be prison inmates were not
caught, but I guarantee that the rest of the
class would have been more than willing to
give up the offending parties name's in
order to get out of the hard labor labor of
cleaning up half of the state if their date
with graduation had depended on it.
Unfortunately nothing was done, and half of
the graffiti is
STILL up! The class of 2012 appears to be
following in their path.
My point is that the school is teaching
young adults that they don't have to worry
about being held responsible for defacing
the town, because neither their class nor
their community are accepting the
responsibility to hold them accountable.
