Moyie needs to support recycling

I see the City of Bonners Ferry is attempting to
make recycling easier and more convenient for
its citizens. Since the landfill has gone to one
stream recycling I don't see why the City of
Moyie Springs cannot find a spot for its
citizens and neighbors to participate.
It could be a manned, only recyclables accepted
site. Having a manned site would ensure that
those who are new to recycling can be shown what
is involved and what is acceptable and what is
unacceptable. It would also keep the area clean
and neat. No household garbage would be
accepted.
The current location of City Hall would provide
both ample space and a central location. Many of
us drive by everyday to the post office on a
well built road. The large parking area is
currently used on a regular basis by only one
city employee, is well lit, provides power,
water and restrooms.
The current one yard dumpster, equal to six cans
at $37.12 per month, for city employee use only,
is picked up weekly by Frederickson's, which
proves the lot is big enough for a big truck to
get in and out.
It may be argued that those who do not live
within the city limits will use it. That
argument is baseless as all property owners
within the county are paying the waste
management fee. Those are the same taxpayers who
will pay a much higher fee if the landfill is
closed. |
