“Run for the Fallen” is a national memorial run that will collectively run one mile for every service member killed during Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation New Dawn. The run will take place on July 28th, 2012. This year’s Run for the Fallen event takes place at the Post Falls High School track and field. This is a free event and the public is invited to attend, whether they are running/walking or simply meeting the heroes and their families. Biographies of the 86 fallen heroes will be on display. WHO: Run For the Fallen-Idaho www.runforthefallenidaho.org WHAT: “Run for the Fallen-Idaho” Annual Memorial Run Event WHEN: July 28th, 2012, 8:00 am WHERE: Post Falls High School Track, Idaho About Run for the Fallen Idaho: In 2011, motivated by the loss of their son and brother, the family of Sgt. Joshua J Kirk organized Idaho’s first participation in the national Run for the Fallen memorial run. 156 participants walked and ran 362 miles on August 20, 2011. The 2011 event also hosted 12 Gold Star families who traveled from Boise, Coeur D’Alene, Twin Falls, Seattle, Washington and Fort Myers, Florida. Kirk’s sister, Jessica Tingley’s vision for the event was to move it each year to a different fallen heroes’ hometown, so that all Idaho residents would have an opportunity to honor and remember their hometown heroes. The second annual Run for the Fallen Memorial Run is being held in Post Falls, Idaho, the hometown of several heroes, including Spc. Matthew Holley, SSGT Darren Van Komen, and Spc Robert Benson.
