Last years'
Borders 3 Jamboree packed downtown
Bonners Ferry with over 200 world-class
classics, and despite a minor snafu,
this year's 13th annual Jamboree is
expected to be even better. |

Despite a short-lived scare that the biggest car
show in Boundary County would need a new venue,
the concerns have been ironed out and the 13th
annual Borders Three Jamboree will once again
fill downtown Bonners Ferry with classics this
Saturday.
Earlier, there were serious questions raised by
the City of Bonners Ferry regarding the wording
of a hold harmless clause in the
Rodbenders
Car Club's special use permit that, had it
gone unresolved, could have forced the club to
move the event out of town or, worse yet, to
have canceled it altogether.
A number of downtown merchants raised concerns,
saying that the event has been a benefit to the
city, drawing hundreds of people from near and
far to the community. City officials and
officers of the Rodbenders car club, led by
president Gene Andrews, were able to resolve the
issues in the nick of time, so now the show can
go on!
The Borders Three Jamboree in 2011 brought over
200 entrants who put on display everything from
world-class show cars, trucks and motorcycles to
working rigs to jalopies held together with
spit, duct tape and baling wire!
Like last year, most downtown businesses will be
open to cater to all the visitors drawn to the
event, and there will be concessions, activities
and more, making this an event offering
something for everyone in the family.
It all kicks off at 5:30 p.m. Friday, June 1,
with a parade of classy and classic vehicles
coming from the city parking lot and rolling
through town.
Participants entering vehicles in the show will
be registering between 8 and 11 a.m., and the
car show officially opens at 11 a.m. and runs
until 4 p.m. Awards will be bestowed beginning
at 3 p.m.
The Borders Three Jamboree isn't the only thing
going on in downtown Bonners Ferry on Saturday;
the
Farmer's Market opens in the city parking
lot at 8 a.m., offering the best produce,
starts, crafts, baked goods and more, and KBFI's
JoJo Baker will be spinning the oldies all day
long!
The
Boundary County Museum will be open, with
the Smithsonian exhibit, "The Way We Worked" on
display, and at 6 p.m. the action will shift to
the fairgrounds arena, where the "Pass in the
Grass" lawn mower races will be burning up the
track!
No matter what your particular likes and
interests are, and no matter your age, you're
going to find something just for you in downtown
Bonners Ferry this Saturday! |
