Recap of December's Moose Madness 2015 |
January 9, 2016 |
by Mary Fioravanti The 2015 Moose Madness annual event was held on Friday, December 18. Everyone who attended had a blast, of course, although all Badger fans were disappointed to find out at the end of the evening that Sandpoint would remain in possession of the Moose Rack trophy this year. The games themselves were quite thrilling to watch, and it is fair to say that Bonners Ferry and Sandpoint appeared to be quite equal on skill, strategy, and talent. ![]() But Moose Madness is a lot more than just the basketball games. Throughout both basketball games and during the halftime periods of each game, students were involved in exciting shows, competitions, and routines. The cheerleader competitions were first, and the unbiased Bonners Ferry side of the gym felt the Badger squad absolutely blew away Sandpoint with their professional stunts and incredible routines. Other halftime shows and competitions during the Moose Madness evening were the Dance team’s performance, the Stomp routine, and the rapping competition between the two schools. The Badger Dance team had an amazing performance. They arrived in style, and gave everyone pride when they finished their superb dance! Sandpoint's Stomp team featured lots of Bulldogs who had some great moves, but they chose to use music accompanying their routine, which was allowed in this year’s competition. Using canned music in a stomp just didn't seem as original as doing it with no music. The Bonners Ferry Badgers showed them up in their Badger Stomp, with organized free style stomping and drummers leading the beat. The Bonners Ferry Stomp also included various types of objects such as wooden blocks and cups, used as instruments to diversify the competition and creativity. Both schools had unique and interesting raps. But somehow it was a lot more difficult to hear the Badger’s ![]() In the noise contests, determining which school could be the loudest, Sandpoint won easily due to their size in numbers. Another competition was an art competition, this year the competition paintings featured the Moose Rack Trophy itself. These paintings were on display in the lobby outside of the gym. Another part of Moose Madness, but held on a different evening and still included in Moose Madness scoring, was the B-cup wrestling tournament and the rope-pull contest. Throughout the event, Bonners Ferry won heavily in the sector of good sportsmanship. Moose Madness is a fun competition the two schools have each year, and even if the rivalry may get out of line at times, students remember that it is just a game created for the love of sports, and the cause of charities. Each school raised a plentiful amount of money to donate to charities of their choice. ![]() |
