Badger Girls' Varsity Basketball
opens season with win
November 25, 2014
The 2014-2015 edition of the Bonners Ferry Badger Girls' Varsity Basketball Team opened their season last Thursday, November 20 against the JV team from 4A Lake City High School of Coeur d'Alene.

In the game broadcast live by boundarycountylive.com, the Badger girls started off just a little slowly, with more turnovers than they would like to have, much of the time trailing the Lake City Timberwolves on the scoreboard.

However, as the second half of the game began, the Badgers put together an 18-4 run, and were able to hold on for a 51-46 win over the Timberwolves.

Badger senior Savannah Woods scored 19 points in the game and corralled 12 rebounds. Jasmine Hill added eight points, and Abby Skeen made a good showing in the point guard position with six assists to go along with her six rebounds. Every girl on the team scored in the game.

"Overall, we got off to a slow start, and turned the ball over too many times," said Badger Girls' Varsity Coach Chris Chatburn. "But we locked down on defense in the third quarter. It was a good, hard-fought win to build on to start off the season."

In the earlier game of the evening, the Bonners Ferry JV girls also won their game, defeating the 4A Lake City freshman team by a score of 59-24. Badger Nicole Donn led her team's scoring with 15 points in that game.

The next home game in Bonners Ferry will be Tuesday, December 2. On that date, the Badger Girls' Varsity will play Coeur d'Alene Charter at 6:00 p.m., and following their game the Badger Boys' Varsity will also play Coeur d'Alene Charter at approximately 7:30 p.m. in what will be the first game of the season for the boys.

Both the Girls' and the Boys' Varsity games on December 2 will be broadcast live by boundarycountylive.com
