Serenity Winey, the daughter of Robert and Sabrina Winey, Bonners Ferry, and a 2017 honor graduate from Forrest M. Bird Charter School, Sandpoint, recently graduated from Air Force basic training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas.

She is the younger sister of Arista Winey, Meridian, Idaho.

She completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness and basic warfare principles and skills.

Thanks to college credits earned while in high school under the dual enrollment program, Serenity was awarded her stripe as an airman E2. For graduating Air Force basic training, she also earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Serenity will be stationed in Florida after further advanced training in Texas and will be working as an Aircraft Armament Systems Specialist.

"We couldn’t be more proud of Serenity’s decision to enlist, and we look forward to her journey with USAF," her parents said.
