Marvin went to school in Bonner Ferry High School, where he played on the football team and graduated in 1947. He was drafted by the United States Army and was stationed in Richland, Washington. He married his high school sweetheart, Ruth Lorraine Holmes, with whom they would have three beautiful daughters, Darlene, Zeta and Marcella. After honorably serving his country and being discharged, he began working for Power City Electric in Hayden, and then for the Bonneville Power Administration, moving his family to Grand Coulee, Washington. The family stayed there until Marcella graduated in 1969. Afterwards, they moved to Sunnyside, Washington, for many years. The family enjoyed many trips to Canada including destinations to Creston and Osoyoos, British Columbia. Unfortunately an injury at work forced Marvin into an early retirement at the age of 44. Before his injury, he enjoyed to hunt and fish. In 2002, they moved to Chewelah to be close to his daughters. Marvin enjoyed cheering on the Seahawks, but what he truly loved to do was try his luck at the poker tables. You would also be able to find Marvin every Monday night down at the American Legion for Pinochle. Marvin was a very hard working man who loved his family dearly. Marvin was preceded in death by both parents, his wife, Ruth, sisters Winnie, Viona and Betty. brothers Ray, Victor, Merlin, Ivan and Pursell, daughter Zeta Keel and grandsons Shane Caraway and Adam Caraway. He is survived by daughters Darlene Caraway and Marcella (Juan) Delgado, both of Chewelah, and granddaughters Tasha Caraway, Amy Caraway, Clarissa Keel and Cassie Delgado. Danekas Funeral Chapel & Crematory has been entrusted with the arrangements. You can sign his guestbook at http://www.danekasfuneralchapel.com. |
