Lila
Fae Allenberg passed away Friday, October 14,
2016, at the Community Restorium at the age of
94. Lila was a member of the First Baptist
Church, 6711 El Paso Street, Bonners Ferry,
where services will be held for all her family
and friends at noon Friday, October 21. Private graveside services will precede at Grandview Cemetery. Lila was born on May 10, 1922, in Linton, North Dakota, the 14th of 19 children born to Norbert Curtis Billingsley and Elizabeth Alvira (Vera) Coon Billingsley. The family moved to Montana when she was about three years old and then to Moyie Springs when she was 14. On Christmas Eve 1938, she married Frank H. Allenberg after making him promise that he would provide her with a milk cow and garden. He kept his promise and she had a milk cow until her children were raised and a garden until she moved to the Restorium. They had three children; Virginia, Richard and Luana. She helped clear fields, make hay, and take care of the ranch in the Moyie Springs area, working hard but also taking time to ride her horse and take the kids fishing and huckleberry picking. She was a founding member Curly Creek Hall and a member of the Curly Qs Extension Club. After her children were raised she worked for several years as a dental assistant for Dr. Ghigleri. Following the death of her husband of fifty-seven years she continued living on the ranch until moving to the Community Restorium in 2011, where she continued enjoying life and the excellent care she received there. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, son Richard and sixteen siblings. She is survived by sisters Mary Ann Perovich of Missoula, Montana, and Dorothy Firebaugh of Coeur d’Alene, daughters Virginia (Tom Roy) Cowley of Bonners Ferry and Luana McUne of Coeur d’Alene, seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, one great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews. Memorials in Lila’s memory may be made to the Friends of the Restorium. |
