Long time Wrangell resident Jerald “Jerry” Leroy
Sarff passed peacefully from this mortal life on
December
21, 2014, at home surrounded by his loving
family. Jerry was born November 26, 1952 in Spokane, Washington to Doyle and Delores Dougherty Sarff. At the age of 18 his family moved to Wrangell, Alaska where he finished his senior year of high school, graduating from Wrangell High in 1971. Right out of high school Jerry started to work at Wrangell Lumber where he worked until the late 90’s. He did a little bit of everything, working his way up to millwright. He also welded and performed jobs for folks around town. In 1975 he met his loving wife Amy Jo Tomlinson and on November 7 of that year they would marry. In March of 1976 the couple welcomed their first daughter Deann Marie. November 26, 1984, Jerry’s birthday, they welcomed their second daughter Jaclyn Ann. In 2004 Jerry and Amy moved to Bonners Ferry, Idaho, where Jerry started to work as a millwright for Idaho Forest Group. Jerry loved to hunt and fish and later in life Jerry took up the hobby of making knives, with hopes it would turn into a small business. Jerry is survived by his parents Doyle and Delores Sarff of Wrangell, wife Amy of Bonners Ferry, daughters Deann (Kenneth) Torsak of Provo, Utah, and Jaclyn (Spencer) Campbell of Moyie Springs, grandchildren Jathan, Brayten, Handen, Judy, Charles, Hunter, and Joseph as well as numerous cousins scattered across the country.
