Jean Carver, 90, of Muncie, Indiana, passed away
on Monday, February 3, 2014. Visitation will be
Saturday, February 8, 2014 at Elm Ridge Funeral
Home, 4600 W. Kilgore Ave. from 11 a.m. until
the service at 1 p.m. Burial will be at Black
Cemetery, Albany, Indiana. She was born September 18, 1923, in Delaware County, Indiana, to Guy and Hazel (Dill) Love. Mary Jean was a former resident of Montpelier, graduated from Chester Center High School in 1942 and Amber’s Beauty School in 1948. Mary Jean married George Earl Carver October 9, 1948. During World War II, she worked in the stock record department at Baer Field Army Air Base in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She was also was a beautician in Ellabell’s Beauty Shop in Muncie and a Dutch Maid Clothing representative for 30 years before retiring in 1985. Mary Jean also was a den mother for Cub Scouts and 4-H Clubs. She was a member of Fountain Square United Methodist Church, 4 C’s Clubs and United Methodist Church Women’s Club, and Seville Euchre Club, and Forest Park Senior Citizens, where Mary held the position as Treasurer. Mary Jean was preceded in death by her siblings, Leah, LaVaughn, Gerald, Keith, Harold, and Larry. Mary Jean is survived by her loving husband George and her children; Master Sergeant Jacqueline S. (Captain Terry, US Air Force Retired) Spence, Robert E. (Alice) Carver, Roger W. (Molly) Carver, six grandchildren; Commander Dennis L. (Melissa) Spence, PhD, US Navy, Kenneth L. (Debra) Spence, US Navy Retired, Jeremy W. Carver, Peter C. Carver, Sergeant Jonathan W. (Janessa) Carver, US Army Reserve, Brandi L. (Mike) Brinson, four great granddaughters; Mackenzie Caroline Spence, Kaithlyn Leigh Spence, Madison Marie Carver, and Isabella Antonia Spence and great grandson Jeremy Aiden Carver. She is also survived by her siblings, LaVerne Winans, Maxine Halas, Dorothy Jester, Margaret Slentz, Betty (Jim) Rinker, Irene Lutherbeck, Marolyn Love, Carolyn McDugle, Mayron (Shery) Love and many nieces and nephews.
