Rudy
Selent, 82, passed away peacefully at home on
the morning of June 24, 2013. He spent his last
few days with his loving wife, family and close
friends around his bedside after a prolonged
illness and complications after 17 years of
being on dialysis. He fell asleep at peace with family and God. He was ready to meet his Savior, his trusted friend and comfort through his life. Rudy was born in Germany on October 15, 1930, the only son of Martin and Olga Selent. He lived his early years in Germany and Poland, surviving WWII and immigrating to the US and to eastern Montana with his parents in 1952. As a young man he, found work in Cleveland, Ohio as a die maker and pressman and settled there getting married to his devoted wife of 57 years, Ruth Krueger in 1956. In 1961 he packed up his wife and young son and moved to sunny Southern California. Rudy loved nature and the outdoors and spent as much of his spare time as he could pursuing his hobby and love of photography, trap shooting, camping, fishing, gardening and beekeeping. His heart was always in growing and tending a garden. Rudy turned his suburban California backyard into a spectacular vegetable garden. That love of gardening magnified tenfold when he semi-retired and moved to Bonners Ferry, where he and his wife and Ruth grew a huge and beautiful garden, raised dairy goats, chickens, and kept bees. Rudy is survived by his wife Ruth and son Chuck of Bonners Ferry and granddaughter Tamara of Post Falls. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday, July 7, at the Bonners Ferry Funeral Home Chapel. |
