Vonna
Ella (Coates) Throckmorton, 93, entered into
rest March 28, 2013. A graveside service was be
held April 3 at the Prosser, Washington,
Cemetery. Vonna was born in Byron, Washington, June 25, 1919, to Archibald and Sadie (Hall) Coates. At the age of three, her family settled on Rattlesnake Hills outside of Prosser, where they farmed dry land wheat. Vonna was the youngest, with three older brothers Marvin, Leland, and Dean. Vonna attended the country School on Rattlesnake until the seventh grade, then bused to Prosser and graduated from Prosser High School in 1937. Vonna married Claude Throckmorton on December 17, 1938. Their only child, Marjorie Anne Throckmorton, was born December 2, 1942. Vonna and Claude treasured their time at their lakeside retreat at Chapman Lake Resort in Washington. They spent endless days boating and fishing and just enjoying the outdoors. Vonna was a homemaker mainly, and worked with Claude as caretakers of Scootney Park and Campground outside Connell, Washington. After they retired from Scootney Park, Vonna worked at Lamb Weston in Connell until retiring again. Vonna was devoted to her daughter and grandkids, making sure all needs were met. But most of all to her husband of over 58 years, their unconditional love for each other was truly magical. Claude passed December 23, 1996, with Vonna by his side as she always was. Vonna was also preceded in death by her daughter, Margie. She leaves behind grandchildren Todd French, Mike French (Theresa), Rick French (Melissa) and CaSandra Anderson; great-grandchildren, Jamie (Jim), Nick (Kayla), Steven, Alyssa, Kirsten, and Jonathan; great-great -grandchildren Ryker and Autumn; and many nieces and nephews. |
