Soren
Michael Klanderud, a graduate of Rocky Mountain
Academy, Bonners Ferry, died on March 29, 2013,
in Aspen, Colorado. Funeral services will be
held Friday, April 5, at St. Mary Catholic
Church in Aspen; the rosary at 10:30 a.m.
followed by the Mass of the Resurrection at 11
a.m. All are invited to a reception at noon at
the church. He was born to Dr. Douglas Channing Klanderud and Helen Kalin Klanderud on April 27, 1968, in Denver, Colorado. Soren’s mother brought him, his brothers, and twin sister to Aspen in 1971. He attended Aspen public schools and Rocky Mountain Academy in Bonners Ferry, Idaho, from which he graduated. He lived and worked in Aspen his entire life. He is survived by his mother, Helen, twin sister Kaela, brothers Kurt and Erik; nephews Christopher and Conor; aunt Louise; uncle Frank; cousins Dierdre, Daniel, Jack, Shannon, Theresa, Mary Jo and Judy. His father, Douglas, preceded him in death. Soren was a little bit country and a little bit rock ‘n roll. A committed and hard worker, he was generous and kind. He was quick to help others, and loved and laughed much. He was the best of friends; his beautiful, childlike qualities were often overshadowed by the darkness of his demons, and he struggled long and hard. His family hopes that he has now found the peace that eluded him in this life. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Aspen Counseling Center, 405 Castle Creek Road, Aspen, CO., 81611; Aspen Valley Hospital Foundation, 0401 Castle Creek Road, Aspen, CO., 81611. |
